A draft law allowing for the establishment of an main authority to control South Africa's borders will be on Parliament's agenda after the August polls.

The Border Management Authority Bill was recently tabled in the National Legislature. Currently, various departments are involved in securing the country's borders.

The proposed legislation aims to pull them all together under one body to close any gaps in security.

Cabinet approved the bill in September 2015, which aims to address inefficiencies in the state's ability to secure the country's ports of entry.
