Right2Know has welcomed the announcement by the ministry of police to release the names of the national key points.

This follows the order by the South Gauteng High Court in December that the ministry needs to release the list within 30 days.

R2K’s Murray Hunter said this decision is a small but significant victory towards efforts of promoting accountability and transparency within the government.

Hunter said it’s really a huge victory for transparency and for ensuring that secrecy bills like the national key points act can no longer be abused and used to undermine communities’ rights across the country.
