Public Service Month launched

The Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa supported by Minister Collins Chabane, Premier David Makhura and Mayor Parks Tau, on Sunday launched the Maponya Thusong Service Centre and Public Service Month at the Maponya Mall in Soweto, Gauteng.

Government adopted the concept of Urban Mall Thusong Service Centre recognising the need to bring services closer to where the people live.

“If we hope to address the challenges that face our country and our people which are poverty, inequality and unemployment we need centres like this that are going to respond to the needs of our people that in some ways are going to be the pulse of our people and feel that pulse beat of our people. As a government we are trying everything we can to find new ways of servicing our people.” Ramaphosa added  

Meanwhile Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has launched Public Service Month. This seeks to instil and rebuild good ethics, morale and pride in public servants. 

Ramaphosa added that Public Service Month also puts emphasis on improving the way public servants work in their quest to deliver quality services to citizens.

“This year Public Service Month will take place under the theme reinventing the way public service work Batho Pele “putting our people first”. The focus on this year will be on the adoption of a pledge to popularise and promote the service charter and consultation on how public service can reinvent the way that they do their work.” Ramaphosa said.
