WC Traffic Authorities held roadblocks over the weekend

Africa said they arrested
drivers for drunken driving, reckless and negligent driving. They also arrested
one illegal immigrant in Mossel Bay .
Africa urged motorists to
drive with care and tolerate each other more especially with the schools
opening and the holiday makers returning home.
The Western Cape Traffic officials held 24
roadblocks over the weekend across the province.
1 949 vehicles were stopped in these
roadblocks and 884 drivers were tested for alcohol.

said several drivers were arrested for various offences.
Meanwhile several motorists were prosecuted
on these roadblocks and issued with fines.
Africa said the total amount of fines
issued was R 157 600 and the highest speed recorded in the Western Cape
was 144 km/h on the N2 near Swellendam and there were fifteen fatalities
reported over the weekend and out of those there were 7 pedestrians killed in
different areas.
