Kwazulu Natal Police say they are following up all leads following the shooting of an African National Congress councillor from the Ulundi area in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Makhosonke Msibi came under an attack from an unknown suspect at his homestead in Ulundi and he was shot at and he suffered multiple gunshots wounds in the body.

KwaZulu Natal Police Spokesperson Vincent Mdunge said to this end there are no developments and the task team is intact and soon or later there will be a lead.

Meanwhile the Congress of South African Trade Union said it is shocked and angered at the murder of Msibi over the weekend.

Cosatu National Spokesperson Patrick Craven said this is a clear likelihood that this was politically motivated.

Craven said it should worry all South Africans that we seeing more of the use of violence in order to resolve political disputes and some people are already afraid to speak out in fear of being assassinated.
