Democratic Alliance Deputy MP of Health Denise Robinson said the South African National Cancer Registry has not been updated in eight years.

According to the South African Health Review, 84 180 people were expected to be diagnosed with cancer last year, with one in seven women predicted to be diagnosed with the disease.

The figure is expected to increase by 2025.

Things like research facilities and early detection play a major role for example: when one thinks of breast cancer there are not nearly enough facilities for one to go to Robinson added.
